Kenneth A. Nelson is the manager of DASC and a Research Assistant (GIS Specialist) for the Kansas Geological Survey. Ken has been with the DASC team since May, 1995. He graduated from the University of Kansas with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Geography and Environmental Studies in 1993. Ken has worked at GRAIL (Geographic Research Applications and Information Lab), City of Overland Park Planning Department, and Computer Data Systems, Inc., a GIS contractor at the EPA Region 7 office. Ken's responsibilities at DASC include supervising the daily operation of DASC including database archiving, quality assurance and distribution of the Core Database, contract and grant maintenance, and automation of data request procedures. Eileen R. Battles joined the DASC team in November, 1995. She graduated from the University of Kansas in May 1993 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Geography and Environmental Studies. After graduating she was employed by a national public busing company as a GIS Analyst. In this position, Eileen assisted in the creation and enhancement of a computer assisted routing package using MapInfo software. This package was installed at school bus contract locations across the country. Eileen brings real world GIS, client support, and product enhancement experience to DASC. Nicholas J. Callaghan first joined the DASC team in June, 1997 as a student. Upon graduating, he left for Johnson County AIMS, then worked in Prince William County, Virginia. Nick returned to DASC in May 2003. His duties include processing data requests, SDE support, and cartographic design and production. E-mail Nick.
Michael J. Killion first joined DASC in August of 1997 and returned again in March 2003. In between he worked as an applications developer for Johnson County AIMS and as GIS Coordinator for the Iowa Emergency Management Division. Brent E. Miller joined the DASC staff as a Student Research Assistant in April 2001, then went full time upon graduating from KU with a degree in Geography in December 2001. His job duties include processing DEM generation, data requests, preparing invoices for clients, and general office assistance. E-mail Brent.
